You got a match?

Everyone is in an uproar over this guy burning the Qu’ran, or Koran if your south of the Mason-Dixon line. The funniest thing was all these politicians, religious leaders speaking out against it, then there’s Angelina Jolie. First off when Angelina becomes my morale, or anyone else’s morale compass something fucking wrong here. She still carry vials of blood around with her.

Now I’m not saying he’s right or wrong, cause really it’s futile, burning those things won’t do anything. Futility always equals stupidity. Also Muslims burn shit all the time, our flag, effigies of our leaders, etc, etc…look how well it works for them. People that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, and Muslims throw alot of stones, probably cause they are still living in the god damn stone age.

I say let this guy burn the shit up, quit making such a huge deal out of it cause the more people do, it’s going to make this event larger then the piss poor ho dunk of a congregation is. His church has only 50 people in it, shit I could start a church tomorrow, call it the Church of the  Pastafarrian,  and have more people in it.

Here is the greatest thing about America though, He has the right to do this type of bat ass crazy shit. Like I said even though he’s stupid, ignorant, and dumb for doing it, I still support the right that he can do it.

If your Christian, you believe in Jesus Christ, how can a religon hate so much if they worship a man that was about peace, love and compassion. I don’t understand this, and if you are a Christian you should really read your bible, and chew on what Jesus, and what he was trying to teach.

“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8:7

No wonder I am so disillusioned by religons….

One thing is for certain this Pastor Terry Jones never heard the old saying, “It is better to keep your mouth shut, and appear a fool, then to open it, and remove all doubt”

  1. He is doing it for the attention, and look he got it.

I heard on the radio this morning that ANOTHER pastor in TN is now going to do this too.

The more hype given to these morons, the more of them that will come out of the woodwork.

  2. “If your Christian, you believe in Jesus Christ, how can a religon hate so much if they worship a man that was about peace, love and compassion”

    The first commandment.

But anyway, this entire thing offends me greatly. Firstly because of what he’s doing. Secondly for the ignorant reason for why he’s doing it (muslims = terrorist because terrorists = muslims). And thirdly because most Americans (even you) clap themselves on the back for being in an awesome country where you can do shit like this. (In a standard European country I think you would get arrested for persecuting ethnic groups if you tried some shit like that.)

I’m a guy with certain believes and principles. One of the things I feel most strongly about it racism, and that’s what all this boils down to. When you start bunching up groups of people of various cultures because they look alike, labelling them, and start blaming them for various problems and incidents… then you have problems.

I’m not sure how much history is taught in US schools, but here in Europe it’s pretty much mandatory to know about Hitler and the nazi party during WW2. People do their best to make sure things like that never fall out of memory, so that it can never, ever, happen again.

I know I’m driving the matter too far (“nazis? Chill, dude”), but it hurts me deeply to see countries becoming more and more intolerant, some even without realizing it.

Like the mosque building close to “ground zero”? What the hell is the problem with that?

    Muslims are not terrorist.

    • Great Comment, but what did you mean about First Commandment, I’m not sure what does not worshipping other gods, have to do with the quote?

      • Well, if you worship another god you are breaking the commandments and/or being a heathen. It was pretty much that which justified the crusades; killing muslims.

Basically you are supposed to love and care for everyone if you are a true Christian. Unless they worship some other god that is, then it’s totally ok to be a dick.

      • Ahh I see, but it also says “Thou shalt not kill”.

Do we get to pick and choose what commandments we follow? Cause I’m all about the coveting.

      • Oh and as for patting our backs for having these freedoms, sometimes in this case it is a dual edged sword. But I would rather have them, then not. To say this guy can’t burn Korans would make us hypocrites worse then this guy.

      • Ah, but according to the pope during the crusades it was “thou shall not kill… any Christians”, so that worked out pretty well. It was even considered to be a goodly act to kill a muslim. Don’t we just love Christianity.

        ***

Would a law stopping people from marching in the streets with the nazi flag urging all Arians to rise up and wipe the disease from the motherland make your country any worse?

We have freedom, but also laws that limit that freedom from making you do crazy stuff, like molesting children. There is in fact a lot of stuff you can’t do, so why allow really stupid shit like this?

    • “And thirdly because most Americans (even you) clap themselves on the back for being in an awesome country where you can do shit like this.”

Unfortunetly, our freedoms/rights here in the U.S. do allow for groups we don’t agree with to be able to do things we don’t agree with.

I am glad they are protected, though. What if (in some crazy turn of events) the majority in the US began agreeing with things I did not approve of. I’m glad to know that I would be able to take public forum to express my disagreement. I’m glad that I am protected in those ways.

Our society here in the US continues to thrive because we have laws established. (in many ways they are crafted from off of Christian or religious ideals – thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill) – I think most modern societies have adopted these basic ideals and principals and that is what makes us “civilized.”

What makes the US unique though is our seperation of church and state. This seperation allows for us to worship or not to worship. To burn or not to burn.

No, I don’t agree with the fact that this preacher has chosen to hold this Qur’an burning ceremony. I think it shows that him and his followers are closed-minded ignoramuses.

At the same time, I’m very happy that I would have the right to set up my own “burning of pictures of Reverend Terry Jones” ceremony.

The media coverage is what is making this situation worse. By giving this guy press they are doing exactly what he wants, which is to breed hate for muslim people.

Luckily I strongly believe the large majority of Americans are not close-minded ignoramuses (ignoramsi??).

      Truth

Well, actually racism peppered with bigotry. This pastor’s biggoted actions, the biggoted reaction of the American population, and the biggoted reaction that peopl *fear* will come as a result.

Let the guy burn the Koran. It’s a book, and there are millions of copies in circulation. The book burnings of old don’t really make much sense in the digital age, so the action is really symbolic rather than anything of substance. It means he’s a fool on many levels.

A few years ago, the Westboro Baptist Church fucktards (they of the “God Hates **gs fame) did the same thing. The difference there was that when they did it, the media ignored it. Completely. And good for them. It isn’t a story. A bigot doing a biggoted thing is like a baseball player doing steroids: it’s just what happens. It shouldn’t really be news anymore.

But what is really baffling me, and actually angering me more, is when you talk to people about why they oppose the burning, you quickly find out that most people oppose it not because it is an ignorant, biggoted thing to do. They oppose it because they are afraid the Muslim world will rise up and nuke our asses over it. And that is some racist shit.

Assuming that the entirety of Islam will retaliate with violent force over a slight *is* racist. It’s up there with assuming an American black man will be a poor, inner-city gangster with a penchant for watermelon. It’s assumptions based off of fear and misinformation.

  3. I have a match. My butt and your face.
